FAQs

Do you only work with people with ADHD?

Nope! I have previously worked with both ADHDers and non-ADHDers. If you suspect you have ADHD but don’t yet have a diagnosis, that is quite alright.

Can you assess me for ADHD/diagnose me?

ADHD Life Coaches are not licensed to diagnose ADHD. Only psychiatrists, physicians, psychologists, or nurse practitioners can diagnose ADHD in Canada. (I work with clients from all over the globe, but I am Canada-based.)

If you’re seeking an ADHD assessment, I’d first suggest speaking with your family doctor/GP or primary care practitioner to see if this is something they can help with or if they can refer you to a specialist. Wait times to see a psychiatrist can be lengthy, and if you’re in need of a more urgent assessment, there are some private options to explore.

Is ADHD Coaching covered by insurance?

ADHD Coaching is not typically covered by insurance like therapy or paramedical services. However, some employers provide flexible spending accounts (FSAs) as part of their benefits packages, which in some cases, can be used for coaching. I'd recommend checking in with your employer for clarification on whether they offer this and whether ADHD Coaching would qualify.

How long does coaching take?

There are no standard timelines, as everyone’s goals and experiences with ADHD are unique; however, my coaching starts with a 12-week commitment. This time allows us to establish a solid foundation and gain awareness of your challenges and individual strengths. Coaching is most effective when there is time to design, test and practice new strategies and plans so you can experience progress and plant the seeds for lasting change.

Think of coaching as scaffolding that helps you develop the skills and tools to empower you to make changes in your life.

What happens if I don’t call/arrive at our appointment on time?

I know firsthand how busy and overwhelming schedules can get. I will send ample email reminders for your sessions in advance, and I understand that on occasion you may need to reschedule your session to a better time.

Please email me ahead of time if you can no longer attend your session or if you are running late. No judgment; things happen! If you’re late, I will wait 10 minutes. If you don’t join the Zoom call or I don’t hear from you via email during that time, the session is forfeited without a refund.

What happens if I miss a session or need to cancel?

Our time together is precious, and I take it seriously. Accordingly, I am unable to refund cancellations or missed sessions with less than 24 hours’ notice.

Can I email you between sessions?

Absolutely— I’m happy to hear from you! Please keep in mind that some topics may be too involved or complex for email and would be better discussed over Zoom. In those cases, I’ll ask you to bring your thoughts to your next session so I can do them the justice they deserve.
